While pricing for staging can very significantly based on several factors, the cost of staging can best be explained by looking at the cost of NOT staging your Houston home.

If you've looked at Houston homes for sale on Zillow or other websites, you've seen the photos. You know which photos we're talking about. The poorly lit cell phone photos with piles of laundry left on a bed, or the bathrooms that haven't been tended to in a while. Bad real estate photos is a popular search on Google and the subject of memes all over social media.

We figure you're like most people when shopping for Houston real estate; when you see these photos you almost immediately skip to the next listing, never really giving the previous one a second thought.

Staged Homes Sell For More Money

While it might seem like conventional wisdom or common knowledge, it is still common to see homes that haven't been staged professionally. The stats on staging prove the case:

Staged homes sell for an average of 5-23% more

Staged homes spend an average of 87.5% less time on the market

1.3% invested in staging returns an average of 7.1% in over-asking offers

With a significant ROI and other factors, it is almost a no-brainer to stage your Houston home when listing it for sale.

The Cost of NOT Staging Your Houston Home

The corollary statistics are also true about homes that are not staged, and in some cases, it can cost more to NOT stage a home than you would earn if you DO stage your listing:

Over 20% of buyer's agents report that their clients offer price on homes that haven't been staged is 1.7-12% lower.

Buyer's agents also report a significantly lower opinion among their clients for homes that haven't been staged.

Homes that are not staged spend an average of 184 days on the market with more frequent asking price reductions.

In other words, not staging your Houston home can lead to a loss of thousands of dollars when you go to sell.

So what is the cost of staging your home?

When you look at national averages, it costs approximately $2,000-$2,400 to stage a 2,000 square foot home per month. However, there are different ways to reduce the cost of staging, including focusing on the most important rooms of the home, using furniture you already own, or even virtual staging.
